Starting a new blog is like meeting someone new. You’re not quite sure what to say, how to act, and in dire need of a witty anecdote to break the ice. On that note, here’s a meme to get things started.
5 Reasons Why I Blog
1. Blogging helps me remember.
I want to remember the details of events – the feelings, the people involved, my state of mind at the time. When I read back to all my blog posts (about 7+ years worth), it reminds me of my mistakes, my triumphs, and it shows me how much I’ve grown. Hindsight is 20/20 and blogging helps me remember my experiences – good or bad.
2. Blogging is a convenient way for my loved ones to see what I’m up to.
I have a big family and I’ve moved a lot. I have family and friends all over the world. I know that once in a while they wonder what I’m up to. Having a blog is a great way for them to read about my goings on and feel connected.
3. I like to write.
Blogging gives me the chance to say what I want to say, when I want to say it with no judgments. It’s a completely selfish hobby, writing.
4. Blogging is a way to connect with new people.
I’ve been blogging for over 5 years. In that time, I’ve met so fellow bloggers and cultivated good lasting friendships. I’ve met any of them in person and I can honestly say that they’re some of the coolest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
5. Blogging is an outlet.
A lot of times life gets really overwhelming. But yet, I don’t want to talk to anyone about it. I feel like I’m burdening them. Blogging about it gives me that release without the fear of inconveniencing someone.
